Field Trip to ICAM on November 20, 2025.
On Thursday, November 20, we went on a field trip to ICAM (Catholic Institute of Arts and Crafts) to discover this engineering school in Strasbourg. After a short lunch break, we learned about the work of engineers through the explanations of an instructor who presented a power production unit. We also discovered robots that can coexist in a shared work environment. After that, we explored a production line used to assemble small carts. Then we split into two half-groups to carry out practical activities.
First, we explored the world of home automation by building a remotely controllable motor. We connected different electronic components using wires and uploaded a program into the microcontroller so we could control it later using its IP address. Then we moved on to the second workshop.

In the second, we were told what a diverse job it is and how an engineer works: what they should pay attention to, how to work in a team, and how to improve working conditions. In teams, we had to assemble champion figurines according to a protocol as fast as possible, and an observer watched our work, pointed out mistakes, and supported us. These observers learned to communicate with the team and help it.

We really enjoyed this tour, and the work of engineers turned out to be much more interesting than we expected !
